Picking a sofa for your home
A sofa is an essential accessory to every living room. It can become the focal point of a room, drawing the eye, as soon as one enters the room. A stylish sofa can do much to the décor of a room as long as it does not clash with the rest of the furniture in the room.
A sofa can be minimalist and simple, with straight lines and stiff backs, or ornate and curvy, with intricate wood carvings. The size and shape of the sofa should be chosen keeping the room it is going t occupy in mind. A too large sofa can dwarf a small room, while a small sofa set can look lost in large spaces. A sofa should not only look good, it should also be comfortable.
A sofa should invite people to sink into it after a long day. It should be comfortable enough for people to sit ad enjoy long conversations, or just relax while watching a movie or reading a book. As sofas are re-upholstered very rarely, it is very important to choose the right colour for your room. Dark colours are generally a no-no for small spaces as they can make the whole room appear smaller whereas light, summery colours can give an impression of light and space. A cane sofa is always a good choice.
The light brown colour is pleasant on the eye and will not jar with any other colour scheme in the room. It can be brightened up by adding cushions in a colour scheme to suit the rest of the room. Also the colour can be easily and cheaply changed, by just adding a coat of varnish on the cane or changing the colour scheme of the cushions. They are available in a variety of price ranges- to suit every pocket.

Much more than just Memory Foam…
When most people think of the words “memory foam”, they automatically think of mattresses. It is true that memory foam mattresses have become extremely popular due to the high level of comfort and support they have to offer but the use of memory foam is a lot more widespread than one might think.
It was developed by NASA around the concept of making the cushions in aircraft safer and more comfortable. Made from a combination of polyurethane and other chemicals, it is formulated to soften in reaction to body heat. This allows the foam to mold to the shape of the body and also assists in warming the body. Once pressure is removed, it will slowly return to it’s original shape. The general use of memory foam was first accepted by hospitals and other medical facilities.
They applied the moulding properties to use in wheelchair seat cushions, hospital pillows and padding for people that are bed ridden over long periods of time. The heat generating properties are helpful to that suffer from pressure related pains and prevents pressure sores. Often referred to as visco-elastic foam, the sensitivity of the foam will depend on the density. The properties of the memory foam mattress will depend on the height, density and type of foam used. A higher density foam will be firmer with a longer life span and a lower-density foam will be more pressure sensitive. The low density foam will have a shorter life span due to the compression that takes place with repeated use. With the commercialization of memory foam, it has become cheaper to reproduce and its uses are still expanding. It is now even being used in the making of shoes, but the memory foam mattress is still by far the most popular.
Memory foam pillows offer additional support for the head and neck for maximum comfort and relaxation while sleeping. Memory foam is hypoallergenic and users have experienced a decline in skin related allergies.
